THE CHAMBER CHOIR NOVA
Kammerkoret NOVA was founded by its conductor in the autumn of 2001, originally as a project choir for her exam at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2003. The project was so successful that the choir continued its existence beyond the exam as an individual ensemble. Today, Kammerkoret NOVA consists of 32 singers with a broad variety of experience in various forms of choir singing and other genres of music. In addition to giving concerts at home and abroad, Kammerkoret NOVA has performed on CD recordings with a number of different Norwegian musicians, as well as recordings for movie soundtracks. Every May, the choir also organizes a series of concerts called ?Hunger?, inviting other choirs to take part in concerts where the ticket sales proceeds are given to the Norwegian Church City Mission.
ANNE KARIN SUNDAL
Foto: Blunderbuss Anne Karin Sundal (b. 1973) Anne Karin Sundal (b. 1973) got her Master?s degree in choir conducting from the Norwegian Academy of Music. She graduated from Trondheim Conservatory of Music with flute as her main instrument, and has also studied pedagogy at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She has taught courses in conducting for the Norwegian Choir Association, at the Norwegian Academy of Music and at the University of Oslo. In addition to Kammerkoret NOVA, Anne Karin conducts a number of other choirs, among them the Norwegian Girls? Choir and the Norwegian Youth Choir. Anne Karin has received several awards for her conducting, and several of her choirs have won prizes in international choir competitions. With Kammerkoret NOVA she has won the highly prestigious Guido d?Arezzo choir competition in Arezzo, Italy (2004), to mention but one. As a conductor, Anne Karin is energetic, determined and inspiring. Her talent for imparting her musical ideas enables her singers to perform their very best. Anne Karin emphasizes intonation, timbre and ensemble performance, focusing on emotional presence. The aim is to create a musical expression which moves and excites both audience and singers.
